Recommended Coolant for Diesel Bongo

Hi Guys
I have a 2.5L auto Diesel bongo (1997) SGL5F
The previous owner has thoughtfully fitted a coolant alarm and whilst its not going off regularly its starting to bleep a bit when not on level ground so could likely do with a top up. The manual i purchased on here just says to use genuine long life coolant but I wondered if anyone can advise on this? I've been into halfords and decided it would be best to ask first...some doctrine suggests mixing coolants is a bad idea and the whole thing should be drained, flushed and refilled but this seems a little extreme for an occasional low-level light...
Any thoughts/advice appreciated
thanks
Ian
