Split seats I a tin top

Post by Heardle » Tue May 27, 2014 11:04 am

Hi I know the tin top doesn't come with split rear seats but local Bongo garage says they can fit some for me instead of the rear bench seat.

Is this ok or very dodgy and should be avoided with a barge pole?

Cheers

If you wanted to compare installations I'd be happy to show you my split seats, I'm across the right side of the bridge in Bristol

It appears when this list of factory options was produced, split seats was only available for AFT - see RF-V spec below. No doubt tin top owners will be able to advise if they also have them. Retro fitting involves welding new mounting points which would need to be done correctly for safety reasons.

Thanks guys appreciate the prompt replies. Not unheard of then but will question them on the work level being done etc

I'm sure you're mistaken there about 'the right side of the bridge' tho Mark ;)

We have a 2001 AFT that originally came with a bench rear seat, but was converted to split seats by Ava Leisure for the previous owners. Works well, IMO and we have a removable kitchen unit at the back which bots down on to the same fittings. The split seats live in the shed for when we need to convert into an 8 seater. So definitely doable.
