maximum wind for raised AFT

Camping on Dorset coast cliff top site. It's windy! Took down the awning at 6 this morning because it was pinging my double pegs out the very soft ground.

Forecast states wind speed of 19mph.

AFT canvas does not look overly stressed but giving the van a bit of a shaking. Should I be worried, pointing the back end into the wind, even lowering the roof or is this comfortably within its capabilities?

Never have an anemometer to hand when you need it We have only needed to drop the AFT once, when the arms were starting to creak I would guess that the wind speed then was in excess of 35-40 Kms/Hr which is about 25mph. It was quite windy at the Welsh Bash early this month but the wind speed was only around 25Kms/Hr but several awnings were damaged.

Definitely no creaking yet! Most awnings down and tents deforming.

We put our roof down at the Welsh bash, but many people didn't and were fine and it was blowing quite a hoolie. Having seen a photo of a cracked roof I personally err on the safe side and don't risk it.

Thanks for the comments. Wind didn't get stronger so sat it out since my post didn't attract shreeks of alarm. (We've learnt to R&R in the Bongo but rely heavily on roof for clearing stuff from sitting area so it really wouldn't have been fun , though neither would a shredded AFT been a bundle of joy ).
