Silver Grab Rail / Handle

Post by jojay5 » Wed Apr 23, 2014 9:51 pm

Hi All
It's been a while since i've done a pimp (had my Bongo 4 years now and still chuffed with it! :D )

I have always been on the lookout for a vertical grab handle and interior handle and at last I now have them both :D :D :D

I was scouring ebay last night and noticed someone was selling new ones that fit and then I noticed the location was very local to me so I popped in from work tonight to see them in the flesh and chat to the guy.

He has only just started making them and the few on ebay are his first ones so he is just going to see what they sell for.

All this aside I did a deal and fitted them tonight.

You can buy them direct from the guy too.

So if anyones interested I can recommend.

The Guys name is Den and couldn't have been more helpful.

What sort of finish have they used? Looks like silver paint.

good idea being mounted on the seat belt anchorages.... shame they are not chromed but that's easy to sort..

Not being funny, this is a genuine question, what is the purpose of these? I find the standard handles to be perfectly adequate for my needs so wondered why there is a demand for these?

Took ages but eventually I managed to source the originals of these, in chrome. Actually they are really useful: the side door vertical rail helps the 'older' passenger (me, I guess!), and the long horizontal bar along the o/s is a great help in hauling myself out of bed.. :)

They are powder coated in Silver with a metallic fleck. The Guy is working on Chrome ones too.
Regarding how useful thay are I took my 3 year old out to the van this morning and it made it far easier and safer for her to get in and out the van. The original handle is too high for her.
To be honest though I bought them because they look good!  but obviously pleased of the added benefits. (which helps justify this expenditure to my wife)

Set of 3 handles:

offside handle

vertical grab handle

£85 a full set seems a bargain to me!

I am watching with interest to see what the vertical grab rail sells for. It will be quite funny if someone pays £85 when you could "Buy It Now" a full set!

Think we should shout if we bidding on these
I'm only after the vertical side door grab rail
That's sitting at £36 + postage
Bit much if you ask me
So I'm not bidding on this one
Will watch for the next one he puts up
Have emailed him asking for a price

My Bongo came with a Japanese after market handle thats attached to the head rests elderly inlaws find it very good, no doubt this would be better but I am too tight to buy one.
If some one would do me a nice drawing I will make a Stainless one

^^^^
Yep I'd pay less than 30 inc delivery

But I am thinking of making one myself
Got steel pipe benders at work ( there must be a bend in the side door handle )

Stainless now there's a good idea
