Help: repair advice needed on Khyam Driveaway

Post by Four Oaks Bookworm » Sun Apr 20, 2014 10:14 am

We have a Kyham Driveaway Sleeper 5000, very happy with it. But had a bit of a disaster over the weekend due to a tripping incident: the 'tripper' fell into the bedroom from the main area, and the top right hand corner bedroom fixing ripped the entire corner of the tent away from the pole on the outside: huge rip in the main body of the fabric about 50cm extending both ways from the corner :-( Any ideas on whether this can be repaired (I know that it's one of the main support points in the whole structure..)
Have tried to put some pics in here without success, but here's a link in case it works..https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0xsbmpd24sydp9y/vfEGhWwx9t

Bad luck, this is worth a go:

Otherwise I guess sewing a patch on might do it. [-o<

Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

Probably best to get a new panel put in or a large repair panel? There was a tent repairers in Stafford but I'm not sure if they are still trading. I think Freedom Caravans may have took them over? It's worth speaking to Khyam for recommended repairers? It's a good tent so worth fixing.

if you need spares for all/any of the main good makes of tent you may find that when you contact the manufacturer thatthey farm out the spares part of the business to people like this link.

i used them last year for a new joint for my khyam drive away. they seemed to have everything for my model and were very knowledgeable.
