Hi what do people use to boil kettle in a unconverted bongo?
I'm currently on first bongo trip and as weather is fab I've used my suitcase stove outside but not sure what to do if it rains (have cooking tent if staying 2+ nights)
I have electric lead but haven't plugged it in as didn't want to leave a window open.
Any thoughts most appreciated
Thanks

Fold your middle bench seat down and put your cooker on the hard back of seat
Put your elec lead through your back door and just close it gently

We sometimes use a mains travel kettle when on hookup. Just enough for two cups of tea.

But not in cold weather, as I found, when the gas was too cold to vapourise properly and I had huge orange flames licking up around my frying pan. A bit scary!

You might be able to get propane mix gas cylinders for these stoves, they will tolerate colder weather but if its cold use a trangia etc but not the fastest to boil, we have a Jet boil with a propane mix cylinder but as the gas cylinders so small you can warm it by placing it in your pocket

If you are worried about melting your seat back, use one of these tables
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gelert-FUT152-B ... B00132D8G2
I usually just open the boot lid and stand under it if it's raining when I brew up. I've got a Trangia cooker which negates the issues of whether the gas will work or not (it runs on meths), but I've had it for ever (almost). Unless you're going to use one a lot, they are a bit pricey.
The table, on the other hand, at £9.99 is in my top ten "bits of useful kit for camping"!!

I made up a method of fixing the table from in front the middle seat onto the bracket for the bike rack.
Sits nicely under the tailgate.

Well, we just use ours for a brew up in the van. Must admit I've not used it in 'Arctic' conditions!

Be careful - wouldn't want my experience inside the van!

I remember seeing a post that showed how to make a cooker from a drinks can, that would work with meths. Cannot recall where I saw it exactly but I am sure it was some where on here.

BTW, anyone using using any kind of stove in the van make sure you have adequate ventilation, death can be fatal.

The scoundrels, fancy copying the Holy Grail of camp cooking equipment (in my opinion)!!!! Good find, though, Winchman, and LOOK at that price!! About the same as one of those little gas cooker jobbies and probably cheaper to run and more versatile. Never come across Clas Ohlson or Askalitt before.
