carbon fibre wrap (vinyl)

Post by Bongo Sully » Sat Feb 15, 2014 11:51 am

Hi all,

lots of good advice about self build kitchens - thanks everyone!

Another question if I may; has anyone used carbon fibre wrap/vinyl (the stuff they sell on ebay) to 'face' mdf or ply DIY kitchen units, and if so, was it successful - any pix and advice much appreciated?

:D

I'm in the middle of a DIY kitchen at the moment and am using the marble wrap effect stuff (Used to be called fablon) from homebase/ebay/wilkos it's pretty common stuff I think and probably similar to the carbon stuff.

I wrapped my table with it and it's relatively easy to apply but I would seal the ends of the mdf with PVA glue or go round to the back other edge as the viynl will not stick to the raw mdf edge (Think mine is being redone for this reason). Overall though it looks a good effect and is easier than you would think. Corners are tricky but there are vids on youtube that help
