cold start valve

Post by chrisnbrina » Tue Jan 21, 2014 5:36 pm

hi all,
ive just got a diesel auto and thought the cold idle was too low and the po said it sometimes cut out at junctions when cold....so i went to adjust it but found it wasnt working at all.....i presume it should have some vacuum pipes attached to it...it doesnt have any at mo...where should they go to?

po said egr valve had been blanked off by garage....does this involve pipes to cold start valve? I think he also said garage had recently sorted a problem with air bleeds...poss this is why its not connected?

Thanks for that..I followed the pipes from the valves and found the hoses hanging...reconnected them and cold start worked but then had a large fuel leak from small rubber hose which went from a banjo and up behind manifold to an injector...hose clip wasnt fitted properly cos a thin tin shield was stopping it going up the pipe....new hose, new clips and 'adjustment' of the tin shield problem fixed.... ...I presume the pipe is overflow from injectors but dont see why vacuum hoses caused it to leak unless its a back pressure issue ? :?:

and just noticed that it initially failed last mot due to fuel leak :!:
