V6 fuse positions.

Post by windywatson » Tue Dec 17, 2013 7:38 pm

Hi All,

Been using a heated seat cover (aldi £10) which is great at 5ish in the morning. However the 12v fag lighter plug end came unscrewed. Not knowing this when I pulled it out of the lighter socket the bits fell apart inside it and shorted out the socket. Now I have no power at socket. I know that there is a built in fuse within the socket as I've blown this before and have actually hard wired it so that it would always blow the fuse in the fuse box. However can't find any blown fuses. And when I hard wired the fag lighter, I hadn't blown a fuse on that occasion so don't know which fuse it went back to.
Can anyone tell me what fuse it should be in the fuse board?
Also has anyone actually listed all of the fuses & made a fact sheet for that, if so how do I find that sheet.
Just hope I haven't fryed any other wiring anywhere else.

Cheers

Fuse 8 (15A) same as diesel. Factsheet showing fuses inc V6: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... usebox.pdf

The load and poor connection has caused your socket to overheat and become brittle. You would be better off fitting an uprated plug/socket of hard-wiring it with a relay and switch. The Hella 12v plug/socket is rated at 16A and is a much more reliable system than cheap plastic lighter plugs:

All the fuses and what they supply are also in the Wiring Diagrams, hover your mouse over a Green squiggle and an image of the fuse appears, the best pages to view ALL the fuses on are the Electrical System pages 16 & 17, to see what they supply hover over the Orange boxes for a translation and link to the specific pages. See here, choose the year, then head for the relevant section from the Contents page;
