Swapping a side facing bench with a front facing one?

Post by simonmoss » Tue Oct 15, 2013 2:20 pm

As a first time poster and new Bongo owner I'm hoping that you'll be able to help. My Bongo has a side conversion with a side facing custom made bench running opposite the sink, fridge, hob etc.. that runs from the right hand side of the sliding door to the back of the van and looks very similar to one of the JAL conversions (in fact I think that's where the kit originates from). I'd like to remove it and instead install a mirror image of my rear facing bench which seats two across the width of the van directly behind the driver and passenger seats, at the very back of the van flush against the tailgate. I've seen plenty of conversions where this style is used and only a few that have the same setup as mine. Does anyone know where I could buy a new bench from as the side facing one is longer than the width of the space available? I approached JAL but they don't sell individual elements of their kit and I'm thinking it's going to be easier and safer to buy one at the correct size rather than hacking at the one I've got or making one from scratch. Thanks in advance for any help / suggestions you can make. PS I would post an image but I can't work out how to?!?!
