Bongo Fury

Hi All
New to all this bongo stuff so another silly question how do I run stuff from my leisure battery and can someone explain the hookup system to me please.

It depends on what system you have .. and how the 'cab' is wired into it ..

Simple ones have a split charger when the engine is running it gives the stater battery priority charging ... then automatically switches over to charge the leisure battery ..

A simple fused harness feeds the relevant cabs fuse box terminals for (say) the power points (ciggy lighters) .. lecky blinds .. interior lights .. radio .. fridge .. TV or what ever ..



With this system if you camp on ( say) a green field site .. you use the lecky from the leisure battery ..

So you will still be able to start the Bongo from the dedicated starter battery ..

The Electrical Hook Ups (EHU) are where you can plug into a pillar at the site to supply the van with 240V AC mains. Normally you have plug mounted under a flap on the van, which you run flexible cable to the site EHU pillar. Within the van the plug feeds a small Consumer Unit (switch and fuse box) that has a Master switch, and RCD (for safety) and then a number of feeds to main sockets or equipment, often you will have a couple of 13 Amp sockets mounted somewhere to plug in kettles/charges in etc. You may also have a 12 volt supply which connects into the 12 volt L/B system to charge the L/B (in addition to a Split charge system from the alternator) and run the 12 volt items from the EHU when you on site. This means you really only use the L/B when your parked up in an lay by or wild-camping.
