Bongo Fury

Hi there (first post)

Just bought an R reg Bongo, with the central locking not working (knowingly). The seller said that his kids had been playing with the buttons and it just stopped working, so he thought it was just the fuse...

I have replaced fuse 4 and to no effect. I am mostly mechanically incompetent, so does anyone know if I have to do anything after replacing fuse 4 to 'activate' or restart the system. If not, then can you suggest any alternative solutions, short of taking it to the garage? I have heard about the door loom, but it does seem in good condition, and would rather not go there unless it is the last resort.

Note, the sliding door still makes the whirry noise when it is closed.

My door loom looks to be in good condition - however I discovered yesterday with the door fully open, the central locking works - as you close the door it stops working - so I will need to remedy this.

Might be worth trying the central locking with the door at various angles.

The door looms are prone to breaking after years of use. You can strip the outer sheathing off the loom and test to find the broken one and repair it...easily done once the outer sheath is off. just waggle each wire until the offending one works...cut, repair, insulate and sheath the cabling again....but in the long run, it will happen again, with other wires, so the best option is a new loom conveniently available from the club shop. I replaced mine, after years of sticking the door loom back together again and again, and the darned thing always failed in winter

Hi... mine is intermittent and sometimes only goes half way. I heard about fuse 4 the 30 amp one part breaking. does anyone have a pic of what each fuse is. Cheers

Thanks, I have tried this. I may try the 40a under the bonnet next as well as the loom.

The 40 Amp BTN fuse drives half the circuits in the Bongo, if that was blown the Door locks would be the least of your problems!
Look to the Loom, externally it will look perfect!

I noticed they are "Mini fuses"
I didnt realise they have 3 types of fuses now... Standard, mini and micro fuses
Its the first time I have seen PAL (box shape) fuses as well

Obvious difference Micro fuses dont have tails.
You can get mini fuses that glow red when blown. they are a lot more expensive than standard minis though.
