Scavenger fan

Post by cavey » Mon Aug 26, 2013 3:02 pm

Hi all, I know there are lots of topics on the scav fan, but I have a specific question about the newer models, namely our 2000 diesel. Should the scav fan come on when I disconnect the sensor under the console? Mine doesn't. I know it's supposed to in the older (and simpler, which = better IMO) models, but not sure for the more fly-by-wire generation. If anyone could try this on their post 2000 Bongo, I'd greatly appreciate it. Is it obvious to hear?

I'm trying to track the cause of the flashing glowplug light which comes on when under heavy load going up a long steep hill, so this could be a reason?

Yours, hopefully,

Dave.

it doesnt come on on any model as i know of of any age.
just tried this this morning on a 95 diesel and it didnt.

test with a hair dryer or hot stripper. unlikely to be your problem though.

usual reason for it on that model is egr solenoid, or turbo waste gate fault. the later fits with your symptoms.
