how do I make a "jumper cable"?

going to check my hold light codes today. Read many posts that casually take about a "jumper cable" but to my shame I don't know what this is so It's time to expand my knowledge.

I'm guessing it isn't complicated but I don't really want to poke about with a lashed up selection of wires into the diagnostic port so can any one offer up a design to copy.

I have a meter but have read that's no good, and a low tech continuity tester (croc clip, wire, led in the handle of a pointy screwdriver type probe)

(Should also mention she's got a split charger relay fitted and the flashing hold light is intermittent.)

The jumper cable is just a short single piece of wire that you need to connect two contacts together in the diagnostic connector. A piece of single core would be better as it wont fray like stranded cable does. A paper clip may well do the job.

Ok so:
1. bridge TEN/TAT to GDN with one wire
2. then bridge second wire (with led in series) between B+ and FEN/FAT?
3. read dashes and dots

Have I got that right???
