Accessing driver side engine in a converted bongo
This may be a really silly question, but how do you access the engine under the driver's seat in a bongo that has a full side conversion behind the driver's seat?

The seat has to be removed, slide the seat back and remove the 2 holding down bolts, slide the seat forwards on the runners, remove the 2 rear bolts, also there is one to remove next to the seat belt clip LHS of the drivers seat. 5 bolts in total.

To change the air filter .. plugs .. auto fluid .. check the power steering fluid etc: .. I prop the drivers seat up up with a piece of wood .. and keep it tucked away for future use ..

For easy stuff you can plonk it on the steering wheel. Or 5 bolts to remove it completely as has been said

Thank you all. One further question: what do you "plonk on the steering wheel" - the seat? That doesn't sound right

I can just about get the carpet around the seat to fold out and rest on the steering wheel .. but in case it slips off the wheel .. I still prop my seat up with a short length of 40x40mm wood to save my head ..!!

Easy, slide seat forward a bit, tilt the back forward, lift the whole seat and then slide the whole thing forward so you can drop the lever on the steering wheel. Sounds a faff but it isn't

Thanks Paul. I understood that. I've still got Tintin but just wondered how it was done! It's just so easy when not converted!Muzorewa wrote:Easy, slide seat forward a bit, tilt the back forward, lift the whole seat and then slide the whole thing forward so you can drop the lever on the steering wheel.
