Scottish Campsites

Post by colshandy » Sun Jul 07, 2013 10:08 am

We head about lunch time and I still havent decided where to head.

Weathers looking good pretty much everywhere up here apart from Isle of Harris.

Anyone recommend any really good beaches / campsites, fancying west coast, already had a few suggestions but never noticed this part of the board before to asking again :-).

Cheers

We spent a couple of nights at Sands near Gairloch at Easter, which is right on the beach and a lovely spot (and the location of the Scottish Bongo Bash, I believe). Also Clachtoll which is much further north. We'd definitely go back to both.

Suspect most will be stowed out at this time of year though!

Oh, and Applecross too. Beach isn't quite so sandy as the others above, but the fish and chips and ale in the Applecross Inn take some beating!

The Potting Shed just down the road does a nice homemade burger too.

For info we eneded up going to the silver sands beaches in between Mallaig and Arisaig on the west coast via Aviemore then over to the Black Isle (including a brewery tour:-)) and a jaunt back down the east coast.

Over 600 miles in all and a great time had sea kayaking with seals, etc.

Cheers for all suggestions.
