Wheels again

Is there a list of the wheels that will fit the Bongo.
I want to ditch that rubbish space saver (after Jane, a friend who has just bought her first bongo last week got a puncture last night, and when she put the space saver on it came off the rim on the first corner, leaving her stranded)
I am wanting a proper spare for me and one for Jane.
Bellhill want ?72 + vat for two steel rims WITHOUT tyres.
Thats going to end up at a hunderd quid each by the time we have put tyres on them.
If there is a list of cars with the same wheels, I can do a trawl of the breakers yards and I bet I can get a couple of wheels a lot cheaper than that.

I know the Ford Probe fits (but the ones I have seen have been alloys. Steel would be better slung under the back)

Any other cars fit?????

scuse me for being thick.

Does the list mean that if I find any of the above motors in a scrapyard, the wheels will fit me Bongo. Safe and Secure.

i think dandy means the rim that fits all those makes and models, the tyres will be different for most.

The Bongo and all these share the same bolt fixing pattern, you'll need to fit the appropriate nut/bolt to suit - some alloys are spigot mount type (discussed somewhere in a previous thread)

Sorry Dandy but most of these wheels WILL NOT fit because the spigot hole diameter does not match that of the Bongo and the offset is not the same. If the hole is bigger on the bought wheel than the spigot the weight is borne on the studs with the highly likely resultant loss of wheel!

you also have to check the ET (offset) and the load/weight rating of the wheel and tyre as the laden bongo comes in at a hefty2.2 tonnes

Fair enuffski CL, my 6 week soujourn to warmer climes has obviously boiled my heid a bit...........your fitment guide is heaps better and the spigot advice is essential if the wheel DOESN'T have taper cones where the nut fits (most steel ones do though...)

With all the Bongos about having UK Alloys there must be loads of "genuine" steel rims around! When we bought our Bongo from Manchester Campers it had a spacesaver, so asked if it could be changed for a proper wheel - response from Mark - yes I put alloys on them all so I've got a pile of spare wheels - he found one with a good tyre for no extra cost. I would suggest contacting some of the dealers, they have to pay to dispose of the tyres at least if they end up with too many!

If you are ever up in Edinburgh, I have a steel wheel with legal tyre you can have f.o.c cant be arsed to send it though

So, assuming you've found a suitable spare wheel to replace the space saver jobbie what size tyre do you fit? Different front and back so Id go for the rear size reinforced to cover both cases. Should be ok on a 2WD but 4wd who knows.
Wonder what the Bongo would drive like and if its legal?

LOL! The space saver is nowhere near the same size as either and the spare is not for prolonged use, merely get you home.

I would imagine that if Daves friends tyre came off the rim so easily, it would suggest that the tyre pressure was too low, we had to have almost 60 p.s.i. in our spacesaver, pity you live so far away Tom, would be interested in a wheel myself
