windscreen wiper won't park
Hi all, my front windscreen wipers don't work on Intermittent and won't park. is there a relay? and if so where ? or is there some other reason for the problem. My MOT is due soon and i have been told it can fail if the dont park.

Hi, does the wipers and washers work and park when you pull the stalk towards you?
The intermittent wipe functionis not part of the MOTT.

Re: windscreen wiper won't park
Hi the washers work but not the single wipe when i switch the wipers on to slow and fast speed they work as normal but when i move the stalk to switch the wipers off they stop dead, wipers half way up the window. They need to park for MOT.

lHi,some WW motors have a sensor fitted for park,.(a type of overrun Geoff might be able to help .entity wrote:Hi the washers work but not the single wipe when i switch the wipers on to slow and fast speed they work as normal but when i move the stalk to switch the wipers off they stop dead, wipers half way up the window. Re: windscreen wiper won't park
There isn't any relay involved circuit below;

Most likely will be contacts in the switching module, the intermittent operation is via a small electronics timer not fully shown on the above diagram.

Re: windscreen wiper won't park
Wracking my brains back to a Practical Electronics intermittent wiper controller I made once for my old Austin 1300, the intermittent circuit made use of the constantly energised park circuit in order to function. If that is how they do it with OEM intermittent wipers it would explain the loss of both functions together.

Re: windscreen wiper won't park
The self parking mechanism is normaly located in the wiper motor,the old type had an adjustable cap/contact to position the arms/blades.I think the newer ones will have an inbuilt sensor.It would worth checking and cleaning the plug first.

Hi all, thanks for your input i have checked plugs had motor off and wiper stalk off still can't find out the broblem, do you think i need a new motor?
