Re: Alloy wheels
Depends on what size tyre you fit. I always used 225/55s and never had any problems. Make sure you get a load rating of at least 96

Re: Alloy wheels
Hi.
In common with a number of owners, I'm running a used set of factory fit 18 inch 8J alloys from a Mazda RX8 which can be picked up relatively cheaply (try ebay) and are a direct fit although you may have to buy some new shiny wheel nuts. Mine came complete with good 225/45 95W XL tyres, which give the same rolling radius as the original wheels and tyres, so the speedo remains accurate (this is an important point). They look great, but the low profile tyres do change the handling - the lower sidewalls have less flex so cornering stability is improved but the downside is a slightly firmer ride which can be harsh over poor road surfaces, but overall I'm happy. And no need to worry about rubbing as there is plenty of clearance in the wheel arches.
A good tip for improving the overall handling of your Bongo (or any older vehicle), and sharpening up the soggy cornering, is to renew the front and rear anti roll bar bushes and drop links. The parts are available from the club, or from online Japanese parts specialists for under £100 and a competent mechanic should be able to do the job in an hour or two.

HI Dan,
I got my last two sets for my last Bongo, and now the most reason one, both times i have bought Mazda RX 8 wheels, they are 5 stud, which look great and fit perfect, mine are 18 inch with low profile tyres, the last ones were 17 inch with low profiles, both fit fine and look great, i also bought new chrome wheel nuts and a set of locking nuts, again cheap as chips on E Bay, hope this helps
