knocking noise over uneven ground

Post by twids » Wed Aug 09, 2006 9:31 pm

Hello,
We have just returned from hols in Bongo and all went well, however we have developed a knocking noise near back axle.
We have taken a look and it seems a u shaped bracket has sheared and so does not hold the rubber around a round bar?? any ideas what the bracket is/where to get another?? Thanks

Hi Twids

That is your rear anti roll bar bracket snapped. They do go and make a horrible noise everytime the roll bar flops about and striks the chassis.

The rubber insert still may be on the roll bar and you can buy the bracket seperatley. Try the guys advertising on here. One of them will have what you want for well less than a tenner. Its a simple DIY job to replace if you are tempted.

What a concidence, mine has just gone as well!

I had a very worrying crump noise when turning left that sounded VERY expensive. My tame mechanic welded it today, and told be to find a new bracket because the weld was not a long term solution.

Samuel, WHICH guys advertising on here should we try? Do you mean Vospers?

Cheers

For those who are interested, this is what it looks like.

The relevant bracket is indicated by Delfryn's outstretched digit...
