Bongo Fury

Is this odd or is it me? I haven't had my bongo for a month yet but today I noticed the temp guage acting oddly. The journey I made was about 4.5 miles. About half way into the journey I noticed that the guage was between the eleven and twelve o'clock mark. As I started to feel panic rising the needle started to drop and it kept on going until the beginning of the guage or almost onto the C. It then moved up slightly before I reached my destination. I watched carefully on the return journey, from stone cold again, and the same happened again! Would this considered normal?

Defo not normal......once warmed up gauge should stay at 11 O,clock all day long

Sounds like you have a Mason alarm fitted or had a mod done to undamp the needle. Have a look to see if you have one of these somewhere under the dashboard:

I confess not to have looked but I'm the first owner since it was imported from Japan so it's probably unlikely I would of thought.

if its a diesel check the temp sender connection, this is at the top front of the head on the drivers side and has a single wire to it, this loops over the cam cover from the nearside harness, sometimes its tight and pulls on the top of the sender making a bad connection, remove and clean up.

or it could be that someone has messed with the screws on the rear of the guage cluster that hold the gauge in place, if these are over tightened they can affect the connections to the gauge as these screws take the electrical connections from the circuit print layer to the gauge itself via the screws. dont over tighten them though, just nip them, they are screwed into posts that have the gauge wires soldered to them, if over tightened these posts can spin and wind the wires round them until they break.

check the plugs into the clocks themselves, 2 of them, could be the supply voltage is altering, is your battery and alternator ok. if yes try the bolt on earth that is straight above the throttle peddle, its on the dash support bar/bracket, 10mm bolt.

check the main engine and gearbox earths, and the battery connections are clean and tight, including the battery earth to the body.

Better check you waterworks (potential airlocks) so check your coolant levels regularly and as an early post suggest the temp gauge should stay between the 11-12 oclock position after the first mile or so.
