Not working: side mirror, cigar lighter, electric blinds

Post by Caco » Sun Mar 17, 2013 8:17 pm

Hi everyone,

I just purchased my Mazda bongo last month so I'm a total beginner with it! I went camping this weekend and discovered that my side mirrors, electric blinds, cigar lighter and radio player are all not working anymore. I think and I hope, it's all connected and that's just a question of broken fuse but I have no idea. Has it also happened to you before? Where shall I start looking to try to fix it myself?
On top of that my glow-pug for pre-heating (it looks like a coil symbol) is flashing all the time when I'm driving. What does it mean? Do you think it's also connected to the other stuff not working?

I thank you in advance for your help and advise,

Caco

I once blew the fuse putting a new radio in and the glow plug light started flashing, no's 1&8 from top left in the fuse box I think.
If not someone will correct me shortly.
Have you a leisure battery/split charger fitted cos it sounds like the circuits you would connect to that.
Do what you like.Like what you do.

Like Stuc I would head over to the Split Charge system.... if it's one of the excellent willinton split charge kit, then check the connections/fuses.
My glowplug light started to flash after Wheel arches were done, the body shop obviously disconnected the batteries (starter & leisure) and they had broken a connection when reconnecting them(ham-fisted fitter). Result was a flashing glowplug light.....upon checking out all the connections I found the broken one...could be that simple, could be a fuse or fuses....

Thanks everyone for you help and advice. I checked all the fuses and the problem doesn't come from there. I changed my glow-plugs and at least the coil symbol is not flashing anymore! So one less problem!

Do you by chance have two batteries ? In which case its quite common for 4 of the top row of fuses to have been switched over to the L/B, this would explain why the Blinds aren't working as well. In which case take a look at the common main fuse on the L/B or check that the L/B is charged!
