Coolbox - Iceytrek or Coleman xtreme

Post by idetika » Mon Feb 18, 2013 8:42 pm

Going back to basics, had enough of electric coolboxes that last barely a year (and need EHU).
Anyone used either the iceytrek or coleman xtreme coolbox? Are they as good as they sound?
Thanks! :D

One of the best things we bought was a waeco compressor fridge. Expensive but well worth it. Lasts for days of the leisure battery.

Compressor fridge is all that is needed, especially given the price of those boxes!

Iceytrek are the Rolls Royce of cool boxes, colemans are just a plastic box with a bit of polystyrene in them.
They are nice people to deal with too, make sure you buy there reccomemded cool pack for the box you buy

Thanks, I think I'll go for an Iceytrek.
I looked at the Coleman ones yesterday and they seem a bit cheap looking.

I don't want to go with a powered cool box as my Bongo has no leisure battery and we like to wild camp or camp on very basic sites with no EHU (and no other people 8)! ).

Sounds like a solar panel would suit you well. They can power a compressor fridge. Saying that, you'd need a leisure battery too...

Enjoy the wild camping - I'm exactly the same
