Leisure Battery Charging problem

Ok. Last month the Bongo forum sorted out my Willinton split charge relay problem and I duly had a new one sent by Martin Willinton. Tomorrow a friend is fitting it. At present the central locking, wing mirrors, rear cig socket, radio, cd and clock are not functioning. I took out the Numax 110 leisure battery today to give it a charge with my CTEK charger ready for tomorrow. BUT after 6 hours it still has got no juice at all. It is only 4/5 years old but has been flat for 6 weeks now.

Is it kaput?

If its been used a lot in the 4/5 years I would have thought it would be getting on in life and about to retire ;-)
But if was really flat 6 hours is nothing, you need to give it a good 48 hours, at least.

Thanks. I will be more patient. i just found the ctek guidelines and apparently the charger flashes if battery is dead.It states 48 hours as charge time for 110 amps. So fingers crossed.

I would have expected results after 6 hours but as its been flat for 6 weeks it will be very poorly. It might not even recover. Only time will tell. If the ctek has a good desulpharion phase like an optimate does then it should bring it back to life, even if it doesn't quite perform as it used to.

Which ctek charger is it? 6 hours at a few amps is quite a lot of charge, maybe it's just a trickle charger?

Good news. The half charged light came on over night. I am expecting a full recovery Numax are a heavyweight leisure battery. Just 24 hours to go! Its a trickle charger and conditioner CTEK 3600.

Alan - what makes yours? Do you use your bongo every day? I think my problem is that the bongo only gets used every couple of weeks?

It prevents your car battery from becoming dead, which happens often when your car is left in the garage for
weeks.

his must have big windows

If your fag socket is wired to the leisure battery, which it will be with a Willington kit, the you can plug a small panel into it and pop it on the dash. It won't provide enough power to run appliances but it will keep your battery topped up when you are parked up.
