main beam issue

Post by chappers » Fri Jan 04, 2013 11:18 pm

Can anyone help? started bongo other day turned lights on and both main beam bulbs came on then blew at the same time. Want to check the fuse first before splashing out on bulbs however the fuses are liberally spread around the vehicle some labelled in English and some in Japanese. It is a 1999 T plate so facelift version, can anyone tell me where the main beam fuse is located and is it 10,15,20 or 30 v?

If you go to page two of the present forum and look at fuse by Franco file (listed I Maynard it lists all fuses good luck)

I believe there is a relay under the bonnet (left hand wing?) which controls the dipped / main beam.

I doubt that they have changed the fuse positions in the later models so;

will probably apply, hover your mouse over the 30 Amp HEAD fuse for a picture of its position.

Duh, all the time I've looked at those wiring diagrams I never knew you could do that! How very excellent.

If you click the HELP button down on the control line there are several other things that can be done .... not sure why I bother writing help files but there we go ;-)

Nah, If we read everything first we would never get round to finding the answers ;-)

It can happen like that sometimes. As one bulb blows there is a brief spike in the voltage which then blows the other one. I have had it happen to me a couple of times, once on the dipped beams which gave me a bit of a problem as I had another 20 miles to drive home. It's not an everyday occurrence but it certainly can happen. If you get the bulbs out you can usually tell whether they have blown and you can always check continuity with a meter.
