I have a water pre-heater that is thermostatically driven - it works but the thermostat cuts out due as the pump on it must be underrated. I Have been using it for a year, but it's a little slow at heating as it is turned off half the time, and also when it does it stops the pump.
I wonder if there is an easy way to activate the bongo water pump with the engine been off to assist the flow and solve the problem? Anybody been fiddling with the wires in that area?

The water pump is mechanically driven by the engine, no wires involved .....

Sounds like you need a better circulation pump. What type have you got currently? This type of thing looks quite good:
