OH DEAR...AND NOT TOO DEAR I HOPE...!

Post by HazelM » Tue Oct 30, 2012 3:24 pm

Hi all!

Last night (and again this morning) both the Battery & Sediment warning lights are "glowing". Have searched Bongo Fury and suspect the alternator is going/gone?! Have booked Maisie into the garage for Friday. Can see the £ warning light "glowing" too!!!

Ah well....beans on toast for the next month!!!!

Have you checked the belts and other simple stuff first? If you need a hand I am only a few miles away in Penny lane.

Hi all!

Problem sorted yesterday by a "Scouse co-Bongonaught"...IMPRESSED or what and learned so much about Bongo's ie coolant levels & how to measure, oil around the engine head which apparently is OK (did wonder), am the proud owner of an engine oil catching tray...etc etc etc!!!!

As some are aware from our chats at Allithwaite, since owning "Maisie" (May 2012), I have been uncertain as to whether she is "right for me"...love the drive....love the size for driving....more than happy with the "freedom" she gives me/us (including Herman)....absolutely delighted in being "different from the norm when arriving at CC sites" (always have)...in truth it is all the technical stuff and "age" that has been putting me off!

Thanks Tom!

Hazel & Herman

Hi all!

Apologies for not responding sooner...so:

Alan - In truth do not know what was wrong. Talking it through with Tomo the "illuminations" appeared & stayed on when I came out of the supermarket & put all the lights on for the first time since I have owned her. Tomo thought perhaps too low on the revs?!! I think I am going to have to "man up" a bit on the gas - Tomo did not say as much but I got the gist!!! The alternator is OK ie charging both batteries ok with all lights, heating, air con etc etc on "full blast" - looks as though the alternator has been changed at sometime as the holding nut is not Japanese (there you go, I have learned & remembered a lot); alternator belts slightly slack but nothing to bother about; fuses checked & all OK.

Brian - thanks for your comment and "yes" Maisie has become part of my family!

Oz - agree 100% re this forum - has to be said the people behind the names, comments etc etc "makes it what it is - BRILLIANT"!!!

All: For information (and I did not tell you this) - Tomo has very recently celebrated an important birthday (ssshhhh....65)!!!!!!!!!!!!! He may be quiet at the moment as his computer has a "bug" so how he found out about my problem I do not know...."Bongo drums" sending messages no doubt - love it!!!

Take care all....Hazel & Herman :D :D :D
