ABS sensor

Be gentle with me, I'm new.
I've got a few hits when searching but need some advice please ?
I need a new OSF sensor. Is it worth trying to source just the sensor or just replace the hub ? If so, how much labour time is a garage likely to charge me for stripping off a hub and replacing ?
Thanks in advance,
Dave.

I lost rear one after hitting a pothole last year and found out that new ABS sensors aren't exactly cheap at £184.00 each (May 2011). Bought one through Allan's garage in Plymouth (his wife Doone is a forum moderator). Had to wait a couple of weeks for one to arrive from Japan as he was out of stock. Probably about £60.00 (an hour or so's work) depending on the size of the garage and where you are located.

Have a search on the forum as this one has come up before. It's generally considered easier / cheaper to replace the complete hub as the sensors are easily damaged during replacement.

agree with simon on this one,if you can get the harness wire mounting bracket off without it snapping theres the sensor nut to remove (never managed this yet), the sensor will be stuck solid in the loop that it fits into.

.
swap the swivel for an abs swivel, these are different from no abs swivels,

What I found when looking for a new replacement ABS sensor were a few for sale on ebay. But they were described as for the front wheels so it would seem to me that there are two different types of sensors, one for the front wheels and one for the back wheels.
Can anyone confirm this assumption.
