Air conditioning squeal?

Post by terryhill » Sun Aug 19, 2012 5:56 pm

Given the sweltering heat over the past few days, I have been having the air con. Today however when put on the air con it makes a high pitched squealing noise. Anyone any theories what it could be?

Many thanks

check the tension of the belt and the belt itself. or clean the pulleys, if its not been used for a while it could be covered in road crud or alternator belt dust, try a quick squirt with belt cleaner or wd or similar.

Hi it could be the belt/jockey pulley or the compressor bearing.Or even the radiator fan motor bearing

Cheers.
