Fiamma Cycle rack

Post by rhenry » Thu Aug 02, 2012 9:34 am

Hi

I have a rear Terzo ladder which I really like but was considering selling this and going for a Fiamma rear cycle rack, the issue I would face is getting onto the roof to pack/unpack roofbox. Is the Fiamma strong enough to climb up ?

thanks

Sounds a bit risky. You can check out the max load for several models via this link: http://www.outdoorbits.com/fiamma-carry ... p-448.html. The max load they can hold varies between 35 & 60 KG, so if you can send a small child up there, you should be fine :).

I used to stand on our bike rack on the old Bongo to wash the roof.

Personally I think its OK so long as you don't stand on the actual arms, (which is what the load ratings refer to) only on the main frame.
After all, its made of pretty much the same size tube as the ladder and hangs on the same way on the top of the tailgate which is where any downward load is taken.
