AFT MOTOR

Hi peeps, Has anyone ever upgraded the motor on the AFT or the hydraulics? ....can it be done? Cheers in advance, Dave

The motors and drive mechanism is very specific to the Bongo and I doubt there is much you can do to improve the original setup. The simplest fix would be to clean and lubricate all the moving parts. The next step would be to get the struts re-gassed which will take the load of the motors when raising the roof.

The 2 motors are shunt motors and have brushes.With the age of most Bongos before we get our hands on them the brushes and commutater have worn to some degree.Passing the motors to a competent car electrician should be able to restore them to almost a new condition.When I had my problems with the roof the resistance of the motorswas over 1 ohm indicating dirty brushes.When I replaced the motors their resistance was well below 1 ohm
