Couple of things that have I have noticed recently about my '97 model diesel 4WD AFT that may or may not be related.
1. When turning right at a fairly good speed (e.g. on a roundabout) I get a sort of whining noise coming from the front end. It's not grinding or crunching but it sort of 'spins up' depending on how fast I am going. This can then go on for a while on the same journey or sometimes just goes away. There have been times when it has made the noise when going along, and then continued when stationary and I turn the wheel on full lock. Other times I can turn the wheel full lock when stationary and get no noise at all. I am thinking differential, power steering fluid or CV joints problem. Anything else I should be considering?
2. I am pretty sure that my ABS/4WD light just winked at me when I turned the engine off when I got home today. Has anybody had this happen? It was raining a lot so maybe that had something to do with it.

Mine made that noise when the power steering fluid was low.

PS fluid topped up and now there is no noise at all. Just hoping there isn't a leak now.
