Generally speaking dealers wont offer you much. They want to make their mark up and need to factor in costs of getting vehicle ready for sale and warranty etc.
A private sale is your best bet and advertising on here in for sale pages is well worth a try. People feel more comfortable buying off fellow members/enthusiasts. i have sold 3 on here all for more than i paid although all were improved by me in one way or another. i'm not a dealer by the way !
As for the cv , how bad is it ? if there's still plenty of test and cv not desperate it could be sold on but PLEASE inform any purchaser of the problem. Better would be to have it replaced. An outer joint will be £40 ish plus labour. Not a specialised job so any decent mechanic will sort it for you.
I guess having being made redundant that money will be an issue but if it's possible it would be better to fix and sell privately .
There are dealers that advertise they will buy bongos for cash but be prepared for a very low offer.

. I have been made redundant and cant justify keeping him so need to sell him on. He has however got a little poorly and I am told he needs a new CV joint. ( I was non the wiser!) I really dont want to be spending any money on him but dont know if it would be better to get him sorted. I have no idea how much I should be selling him for. Any suggestions on the way forward. Thanks
