the new look

Post by 8etty 8ongo » Sat Apr 14, 2012 4:34 pm

betty has had some bits and bobs done recently and the last little bit (i think) has made a huge difference - she looks great.

before with chipped decals, wrong fitting number plate which was wedged into place, amber indicator lights and amber tailgate reflector (which im not just not keen on) and normal windows
Image

and now :D with decals removed, new number plates, new rear cluster lights with silvered indicator bulbs, reflector strip and panel below all resprayed and newly tinted windows
Image

also, this is her before with the patch left from when i removed the side decals
Image

and this is her now after simon through wheelquick did his magic
Image
really cant rate him high enough - fantastic service and job =D> =D> =D> =D>

i think she is really starting to get there now and hopefully her transformation will be complete next week when she gets her new alloys on :D :D :D
(and ive tackled changing the blinds    )

Looking good betty !

Got mine yesterday. Went out in it today after borrowing a gas stove to have a cuppa after taking dogs for a long walk!
Bit p'd off as between putting a deposit on it and it being delivered, someone must have backed into something and broke of the reversing mirror - I noticed it straightaway, and the rear tail light is cracked, plus a small dent in the back. :x I'll have to drive it back there to at least get a new reversing mirror as it's quite hard to see how close I'm parking to things like motorbikes behind.

erm, actually it was myself that got the stickers off :D :D (well with the help of everyones advice on the forum =D> =D> ) tried the hairdryer method which worked on some of them and then the 'toffee wheels' on the seriously baked on ones and its fine when you get the hang of them.
very pleased with the overall results 8) 8) 8)

  be warned, this is how it starts   , just a little job here, then a little job there and then just another little job and so it goes..
i thought that would be me done now but no, i now 'need' to change the blinds, and get a bit of rust on one of the wheel arches sorted and some other little bodywork bits done as well as alarm fitted, interior tailgate panel changed and...........
highly addictive these bongos :D :D :D

 I can tell betty, and I know I will be no exception!

My enthusiasm was a bit dampened when I saw immediately that the reversing mirror was smashed off when it arrived. It is blindingly obvious. I thought it would be less hassle to have it delivered to me, but I wish now I had taken the long bus trip there as no way would I have left with it in a different condition that when I saw it and agreed to buy it. I will have to be assertive when I go back there, but I doubt they will fix the dent or the cracked skirt or brake light as I can't prove anything, although I know I looked carefully over the whole of the vehicle and found a couple of other barely visible tiny dints which didn't bother me.

I hope they will fix the mirror at no charge - it was definitely intact when I put my deposit on it. Otherwise I won't be able to recommend them to anyone on here, as I did last week. Anyway I will give them the benefit of the doubt and see what the owner of the garage says on Monday before I make a judgement about them.

I did post one pic of it yesterday on a thread somewhere. I'll stick some up on the show us yer bongo thread when the sun comes out again.

The amber reflector does make them look rather dated but to my taste they need some fairly bold horizontals, particularly at the front to stop them looking quite so tall.

One day I will experiment with Paint Shop Pro or similar on images of the original front and rear elevations to see what improvements I can make. An early candidate is the strip above the front bumper. The one which dents itself when you clobber something with the bumper. I fancy a dark horizontal presence there.

fingers crossed that they do and try and get them to fix all the points that youve made or maybe they could refund some of the money for you to do them? always worth a try.....

In the same vein, is the original passenger side rear light cluster going spare? If so I'd be interested in making you an offer for it - the wife recently reversed into a tree (!) and broke the clear lens at the bottom....
