Bongo Fury

Hi all.
What do you folks reccommend as the best combination for aftermarket alloys and tyres.
Bearing in mind that the Bongo comes with different size tyres front and back do you make them all the same??
I was looking at either 16" or 17".
Do any other Mazda alloys go straight on??

They are from a distance,they are chrome but are starting to corrode.

would it be cheaper to get them re sprayed?? ..

hi, i have just bought some 16" mazda 6 alloys which wheelquick have assured me will fit. hopefully be on this week when my son has finished refurbishing them

It all depends on your model.

All 2WD models can have any suited size alloys to run on them. I run some RX8 alloys with Accelera 225/R18/55 tyres on mine.

There are some right bargins to be had on ebay (RX8 alloys etc), and some cracking online sites to purchase decent tyres as well.

However, if you have a 4WD model you have to be really careful what you put on the bongo, or you will end up burning out the diff's.
The fine gents at Wheel Quick (the 2 Mikes) are a wealth of information and will point you in the right direction.

Don't forget, the size of the wheel rim is not critical, but it's the rolling circumference of the tyres that matters. Whether 2WD or 4WD you should aim to go for 4 identical sizes (with a suitable spare to match). That will give you complete flexibility to swap front to rear (& vice versa) to spread the tyre wear and you won't have a problem if you get a puncture.

premium tyres but with what load rating ?? may have a high speed rating but you need to check the weight/load rating.

It should be on the ratings plate inside the driver's door opening.

It (usually) states front 92 (for 195/70-15) and rear 96 (for 215/65-15) - those are the minimum load index figures that should be used.

Remember to check the size of the centre bore of the rim. Ideally it should be 67.1 mm, but you can go larger with the use of 'spigot rings'. See this thread for a cautionary tale of replacement wheels which would not fit: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... pigot+ring
