Have now found ATF dip stick under driver's seat along with engine oil filler cap. When ATF needs topping up where is the filler cap?

you use a small funnel and pour down the dipstick tube

You fill the ATF down the dipstick hole.
Make sure you have checked the level correctly, in drive, or you will have an incorrect reading.

That's a good idea, even tho we rarely delete in Techie, because it shows the post is being linked to, or is very handy.
I've now made it into a FAQ along with Kirstys post on how to change the ATF. And there's a downloadable factsheet in the members area.

Hi there... The link to the factsheet is broken - I get a 404 when trying it. Would it be possible to reinstate it please?
My Auto transmission is slipping when changing gears and I suspect it might be the ATF level so the factsheet would be really useful.

Only paid up members and not Forum users can access the members section / tutorials .. but the ...
http://igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/view ... =3&t=30096 .. link is working for me and I am just a Forum user ..!!
But this is a basic explanation of location / method to check the Dexron 3 fluid ..
As the fluid is topped up down the dip stick tube you will need a funnel .. I use one like this ...
Ideally the fluid should look a transparent cherry red ... if it's a mucky brown / smells of burnt toast it's due for a change ..
