Rear Heater controls.

Post by Winniebongo » Mon Feb 27, 2012 9:15 pm

I have just bought a converted Bongo, side conversion with rock and roll bed. The van has manual air-con but the rear heater controls have been removed. Is this normal in a side conversion and do you think they could be reinstated or is it a when they're gone they're gone case?

Hi there

Some of the converters (Wellhouse being one I think) remove the rear heater matrix/air con unit so that they can fit in water tanks so it may depend on who did your conversion as to whether it's still there or not.

Other "hide" the controls inside the units, look inside the cupboards and see what might be mounted on any partition between the fridge and storage areas ?

It has been converted by Daircie in Fife, nothing inside the cupboards and it doesn't have underfloor tanks, if that helps.

This is where Wellhouse fit the tank when they remove the rear heater matrix. In case you have something similar, check under the van just behind the drivers door. You should see two rubber coolant hoses and two metal pipes covered in a foam tube for the air con refrigerant. Alternatively, ring the people who did the conversion and ask them.

If you have a full side conversion and you have air vents in the skirting board at the below the sink/hob as I have in my Elite conversion then you will find the heating control panel inside the cupboard above the air vents.
