Floorpan anchor points

Post by Bisto_Blue » Thu Feb 09, 2012 6:38 pm

Hi

My Bongo was converted by JAL, however, due to a change in circumstances I am investigate the possibility of temporarily installing a single passenger seat in the back where the middle row would be. Allowing me to keep the rock and roll bed behind for when needed as a camper.

As i cannot see where the original runners should be (runners removed/ floor now covered with ply) I just wondered if anyone could tell me how the runners are bolted to the floorpan, and if it would be possible to bolt something like this (which has an incorporated seatbelt) directly to the floor:

(Auction has finished so might need to scroll down abit)

As the runners are on either side of the van floor, I am guessing there would only be a couple of bolt holes trusted to take the load of a passenger chair, but not in the right place, and not four!?!

Its main purpose will be for a child seat (Class 0) so would need to be as safe as an original chair really. Any thoughts or other ideas would be of great help. The only other option is not using the Bongo much until we can legally put a child in a front facing seat in the front with an airbag... around 9 months... so thats no camping this summer!!

I've seen other threads relating to disabling airbags etc, but I'ver struggled to find anyone capable of safely doing this. Warrington Mazda would require a workshop manual, but according to Ian, the translated one does not contain the SRS Airbag system... #-o

sorry about the essay!
