Battery drain on fuse 1.

Post by james13009 » Sat Jan 28, 2012 2:21 pm

Hi all I have a battery drain which appears to be coming from fuse 1, which is the red 10amp. Under the bongo specification sheets (I have this wired up to my leisure battery). I've got this down as cabin lights and confirmed this when I pull out the fuse and the lights go out.

Now I have pulled out the following:
Both 'map light' bulbs
rear door light bulb
Center light bulb
AFT bulb

but the drain remains, and I'm sure its might be something to do with the glow plug as the light flashes on start-up with out the fuse in, or possibly I have missed something. Any ideas?

There are quite a few circuits off this fuse as it isn't switched by the Ignition. The leading number refers to the Page in the Wiring Manual which is available here http://www.g8dhe.net/bwm/default.htm or shout for help if wiring isn't your thing ;-) ;

How big is the drain if its about 50mA (0.05Amps) then your doing quite well, if its more than about 100mA (0.1Amps) then you should be OK, more than that and its best to understand what is causing the drain specifically. You won't get it to Zero as it powers the ECU whilst the Ignition is off hence the 50mA minimum!
