Auto gearbox hesitant and slipping in 2nd

Post by HeskinBongo » Thu Jan 26, 2012 1:39 pm

Hi
have been using the search facility to research my problem, without a conclusive answer, could you offer some advise please.

2.5 autobox with 130000kms, i changed the solenoid pack about 18 months ago, after hold lights, and dropping out of top gear, been great since.

over the last couple of months its been hesitant to pick up drive when i stop at a junction etc
have checked fluid and alls fine and clean.
more recently it has also started slipping when it engages in 2nd then catches and all is ok

do i need a replacement box ?
is it much of a job to change, i'm pretty handy

Thanks, John in Lancashire

real easy standard job to do mate, just make sure you flush the crud out of the rad/ gearbox oil cooler and feed pipes, so you dont naff your new one with debris from your old one.
couple of hours for a 2 wheel drive, little longer for the 4 wheel d.
