How many holes ??

Post by haydn callow » Fri Jan 06, 2012 4:03 pm

Just had a guy on the phone.....rebuilding his engine.....he has 4 coolant holes around the cylinders in the head and they match up with the block....but...only 3 holes in the gasket.....I seem to remember this being brought up before...but not where/when

It rings a bell with me also but, as there are so many coolant threads, I can't remember which one it was in

This is a reply by Julian on the subject,

1. Yes its a multilayer gasket

2. Yes it does cover some of the holes on the block

3. Cracking sometimes is up in the ports, cracks arent always visible and open up under pressure.
