Won't start and mystery beeping

Post by Bongo_ponk » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:00 pm

Hi all

Bongo won't start today - I guess it's the battery (some juice left for lights / slide door locking but not enough for turnover). Electrolyte in battery is below min level (wasn't expecting that type of battery)

I'm confused about a persistent beeping. 3 rapid beeps (like a cheapo travel alarm clock), quiet for a couple of seconds then the 3 beeps again and so on. Key not in ignition even.

What's this warning me about then? (can't find anything about low battery warnings!)

Any ideas? Will get homestart to check battery / alternator and the like.

I just had same problem but without the beeps. Homestart came started it no problem with help from their yellow charger machine, checked alternator that was ok too. So took it for a long run and got fingers crossed it will be ok for tomorrow now.

IIRC, you get the triple-beep when you try to drive with the roof up. Is it fully down / locked etc?

I'm getting the beeping without the key in the ignition and the roof hasn't been up since September. Odd.

Hmmm.. Sounds like low-voltage weirdness. Fingers crossed a good charge-up will sort it.
