Hi all,
I thought I'd treat the Bongo to new pads today........
.... all was going well until I found the offside rear caliper was only being held by one slider pin !!! the other one had snapped sometime ago...... The head is seized in the caliper and the remainder of the pin is definitley seized in the carrier.
Basically I need to get hold of another Caliper/Carrier ASAP
Can someone tell me are they all the same?
Mine Bongo's a 2001 Aero tintop 2.5 V6 (now running on gas!!)
Anyone know of a source for these calipers/carriers, anyone with these on the shelf, would like to sort this one as soon as. The pads are on the limit and I can not change them 'cos the carrier won't let the caliper slide.......
Regards
Terry

replacement and new callipers are fairly easy to get, most of the breaker/new parts suppliers on this site will have them.
or ebay.
as far as i know, and ive changed a few, moreso on the older bongos though they are all the same, but someone with access to the lushies will put you right on that one.
what ive found with the slider pins is they vaccum in and stick, when this happens i use a small drill bit and drill the closed end of the pin, this releases the vac, and you can lubricate, then drift out with a very small punch, then fill the hole with liquid metal or similar to keep out future crud, seems to work well.
second hand callipers are about £50, new/ recon are just over £100. seal kits are available at the club shop i think, or mazda.
