not sure exactly how the bong is mean to drive and never really driven an automtic in my life but i find the autobox a little hard to fathom compared to a manual
issues i have
i sometimes have to back off with the throttle to get the bongo to change to a higher gear (less revs)/ overdrive
The bong is not quite as sporty as i would like tho not bad
I wonder if there is a place that could just give it a check over on the tps position which i adjusted based on a photo of one i found on the forum and a bit of guess work
maybe reset, retune the ecu considering i use veg oil mix/ twin tank work out the gas immisions and bhp etc and get it setup right
is this sort of thing cheap?
rgds p
as far as im aware you cannot reprogram the ecu, its a bit basic.
many things control the operation of the gearbox change up/down.
fuel, filters, engine and gearbox oils, temp of engine/box,condition of fuel pump/injectors, even tyre pressures.
its all down to load.
the manual gives specific readings that can be obtained by testing the tps with a meter, if the readings are within the required range it may be a case of adjusting the position.
there are too many variables to set one bongo against another from a photo,i would suggest that if the other variables are ok then carry on adjusting the tps (both ways) until you are happy.
many bongo owners report having to lift off to get it to change up to lock up, or any pressure on the throttle makes it kick down from lock up, to some degree this is what its supposed to do, but its all about the degree.
i found one of the best improvements to be made was to swap the fan switch for a new gen part, as this controls lock up temps, and use good quality oil in your box and running gear and engine, the old spec dex 111 is now 15 years plus technology, as is the standard 5w 30 mineral. i used syntran 11 for the manual gearbox and diffs, and semi or full synth oils for the rest, this had the affect of improving rolling resistance on the running gear.
even a 4 wheel laser alignment helped.
even if non of the above help your particular problem, you will use less fuel.
