Rust: Bilt-Hamber "hydrate 80"

A mate just introduced me to this. So far I've only read what's on their site...

It's listed under both corrosion removal and prevention, and claims that the "cross-linking polymer formulated to provide the tough non-rubbery barrier tenaciously grips the metal surface forming an ideal base for further coatings, paints or anticorrosion wax".

Having read the Under seal your van for £15 thread and sitting with a schutz gun and two litres of schutz, something like this seems like a no brainer. I'm sure there are plenty of products out there that'll do the same or similar.

Any folks with experience of Bilt-Hamber "hydrate 80", or others?

Looks like it could do a job,I am very surprised they never used these products on the Forth Road and Rail Bridges etc.
It would save a fortune painting them every year/or so ??

I work at a rather large Glass company who helped develop the addition of glass flake into coatings when I saw the quote i thought ahhh maybe not so old news........it will be finished for 25 yrs shortly!!

anything that can give protection to the underneath of a Bongo is a good thing!!

Fertan is another good coating to spray on.....any rust there is neutralised and turns a black colour then you can either primer/paint or underseal/Waxoyl or whatever your choice is....... did my rusty (surface rust) rear axle....well most Waxoyl jobs tend to miss the "hanging" components and concentrate on the body...... and it did a fab job....

I used to swear by some stuff called Trustram which was similar but it isn't made any more. I've still got half a bottle and use it for first aid on top half scabs, chips etc

That was taken off the market when Finnigans brought them.....Hammerite/Waxoyl makers...
