Pela Pump seal problem

Post by mad as cheese bongo man » Sat Nov 12, 2011 4:43 pm

How do!

I've just got the pela pump out to do a oil change, i've not used if for a bit (got the garage to do it last time), the pump doesn't seem to be sealing propery to the container .... has anyone had this problem before? it looks like the rubber seal has expanded. I've tried using an elastic band but although its better and i can still hear air escaping.

cheers

Wotcha Rob. I've had no problems with mine (and you welcome to drop by and borrow it, compare pumps etc. Is it an o-ring problem, as maybe you can get a replacement (or email Pela to ask what can be done?)

Hi,it would be worthwhile trying some lubricant(oil)between the pump stalk mating surface and the container.

Hi,

Had a similar problem to you on saturday when attempting to replace the pas fluid on my volvo. Pela had been kicking around the garage for a while so when I came to use it I couldnt get a good seal on it.. I looked harder and I realised the little black rubber "top hat" seal/valve that sits on the sphere inlet itself (and which the pump itself sits on top of) had gone AWOL... I soon found it and my Pela now sucks! Could be a similar issue you're expereincing...

cheers,

Steve
