Flashing Hold light Returns

Post by gasmeter65 » Mon Nov 07, 2011 12:25 am

Hi guys,

Have had no flashing hold light since last posting, but it has dropped & stayed in 3rd when ive gone up a steep hill (No flashing hold light) then when stopped for 5 mins returns to normal.

Anyway have had an oil slick of a gearbox leak getting worse by the week (still no hold light)
So read up on how to drain box with said Pela pump (worked a dream) fitted new gearbox sump gasket, cleaned sump pan, refitted & refilled with 5 ltrs ATF Dexron III oil.
When i started her up surprise hold light flashing !! & now wont change up from 3rd.
Did all the level checks in 'D'. All correct.

There is still a small amount of oil leaking from somewhere. possible gearbox bell housing, could that be the torque converter ?

If its any use it did use to change up n down at 40mph (from 3rd to 4th) prior to oil change with light throttle.

Also put fresh antifreeze in & an oil n filter change too.

Have had a look at various threads mentioning throttle position sensor, and ecu, and did see something about bleeding coolant ?

Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.

would suspect solenoids failure, but before anyone jumps in and moans that without reading the code i cant make an accurate diagnosis, will just say that from your description it sounds like 3-4 solenoid has failed, which isnt common but has been seen on lots of bongos
