2.0 or 2.5 Petrol

Post by Audio Addict » Mon Oct 10, 2011 10:18 pm

Hello Everyone,

I've looked at loads of bongo's and have decided to buy a V6 petrol, but I was wondering if there was easy way of telling the 2.0 and 2.5 apart visually?

I have been looking at a 2001 model but forgot to check if it's a 2.5 or not.

I'll be looking at it again this week so I can check, any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

J-P

V6 has a V6 engine (ie 2 banks of 3 cylinders, therefore 2 heads), the 2 litre has a weeny 4 cylinder engine
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Plus V6 often has a wee 'V6' badge on the blunt end.

Kirsty's method is best though. 8)

Thanks for the replies.

I just realised I've been stupid, I had it in my mind that both the 2.0 and the 2.5 were both V6's but it would be unusual for there to be a 2.0l V6

There isn't a V6 badge on the back of the one I've been looking at but it does run like one.

Am I right in saying only the diesels are 4x4?

Yes only Diesel is 4wd. As for engine size, if you don't want to lift the seats there is a plate on the drivers door jam with engine size marked.

Bear in mind not all diesels are 4wd, if chassis no starts 3GL its 2wd, 5GL is 4wd, or look at front axle.

Big diff on 4x4. :)

Just rev it up - if it's a V6 it will be obvious then.

Not a stupid assumption, as Mazda's have had a 2 litre V6 (as in the 323F) also the Lexus IS200, though not a Mazda, is a 2 litre V6, so they do exist.

But yes, the 2 litre will sound like a "normal" car and won't have a geat deal of power. The V6 will sound great.

I'll post up some pic's when the full side conversion has been done and I've picked it up.

I RECKON YOU CHOSE WELL ! =D>

The v6 is a lovely motor. I haven't seen the freespirit conversion in person but always admired the pics i have seen. They look a genuine set up - be intersting to hear your feedback and see pics when done.

Thanks guys.

Rupert at Freespirit seems to do a really good job with the conversions, and is a genuinely nice guy.

Here's a picture of it on the forecourt

I just want to stand up for the 2.0 engine, its quiet, reasonably economical, and on the flat is as quick as I need it to be, I mean you don't want the kettle to fall over on the curves ....
