Japanese service documents

Post by Major Grump » Tue Oct 04, 2011 4:43 pm

Hi,
I've got a number of what I think are service logs in Japanese that came with my Bongo. They all seem to be of similar format so I wondered if they really are a standard format has anyone translated them? It would be useful to know the service history.

They may be shaken ("shar-ken", I think) records - roughly Japanese MOT equivalent.

If they are loose sheets they are probably the Tenken Sebbi preperation list. These are often done at a service before the annual test. Mine came with the Mazda service book stamped at the same time.

Ther is no set format, mine are Mazda ones and have little pictures of each part included in the service, with them ticked off depending on the mileage and type of service. Alison also has pictorial ones, but a different format from a different service centre.

They are a useful find even if unreadable, because they indicate a well looked after Bongo plus an owner organised enough to put them with the Bongo, even though it was only going to auction.

Sounds about right. Most of them are the same (with the service date and mileage/km's clearly marked). I'll see what I can get translated as knowing the service history is clearly very useful!
