fusebox patching from leisure battery

Post by surfbus78 » Mon Oct 03, 2011 1:07 pm

Hi there,

I want to make some of my components in the bongo live from the leisure battery rather than when the ignition is used, e.g DVD player, cigarette lighters, blinds and interior lights. Does anyone know which fuses i can put the connections into and whether i patch into the front or rear of the fusebox.

cheers in advance

If you don't already have a split charge relay to charge your leisure battery, may I suggest you purchase a kit from "willinton" on EBay. His kit comes with all of the necessary bits and pieces (together with instructions) to do what you have said you wanted to do regarding powering things from the LB. His kits are very well thought of on this forum.

If you've already got the charging side of things sorted out, I'll leave it to someone else on here to explain what you need to do but you're not the first person to ask that question on here. The search function should bring you up some answers.

If you have a split charge relay then you can do the job yourself, one wire from the leisure battery going to a four way fuse box (halfords) then four wires to the fuse box.
Fuse 1 cabin lights, fuses 6,7 interior blinds fuse 8 ciggy socket and radio.
you can patch in from the front of the fuse ,take the fuse out and use the bottom section.
make sure all your wires from the leisure battery to the fuse box have an in line fuse equivalent to the fuses you take out of the fuse box.
Lost without my Bongo.
